From routine tests to specialized analyses, our laboratories provide the data needed to evaluate your issues and design solutions to meet your project goals and objectives.

Beyond routine tests, our facilities are equipped for forensic and failure analysis studies of manufacturing equipment, metals, elastomers, coatings and other building materials. We also offer other specialized testing methods that deliver critical insight into the performance of construction and building materials and how they impact your project. SME participates in Round Robin certification testing sponsored by the Association of Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL).
Test equipment is calibrated to NIST standards, and procedures utilized are in compliance with ASTM and associated governing agencies. We participate in a Round Robin testing program for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in bituminous materials. Our lab is also certified by the Corps of Engineers; American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) for soil, aggregate, Portland cement concrete, hot mix asphalt and metals testing; and by several state DOTs.
