GBA Recognizes SME with Two Awards at 2024 Annual Conference

We are honored to announce that two members of our leadership team received awards at the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA) Annual Conference in April.

Tiffany Vorhies, NACE CIP-2, PMP, and Director of Project Management at SME, received an Award of Appreciation for her instrumental role in creating the GBA Podcast.

The Geoprofessional Business Association described Tiffany’s contributions to the project as “extraordinary and unique” and created a new type of award to recognize her “exceptional vision, leadership, and delivery” of informative, expert-level podcast episodes.

Tiffany launched the podcast in 2020 with GBA’s Multimedia Delivery Committee and serves as the Committee’s chair. Together, the team has interviewed business coaches, explored complex case histories, and covered topics like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the geoprofessions in different episodes.

“I’m grateful for GBA’s support of our creative direction,” said Tiffany. “The GBA podcast allowed me to turn a weekend hobby into a meaningful project that promotes discussion about crucial topics in the industry.”

Second, GBA gave the 2023-2024 President’s Award to Mark Kramer, PE and SME’s President and CEO. Matt Moler, GBA’s Immediate Past-President, selected Mark for this award for his ability to make others feel valued and welcome.

“Mark is informative and encouraging to everyone. He’s modest, wise, and has a servant’s heart,” said Moler during the conference. Mark has served multiple terms on GBA’s Board of Directors and as the Terra liaison. He currently serves on GBA’s Council of Fellows and the Terra Board.

“It’s been wonderful to be part of an organization that gives back and helps each other so much,” said Mark, whose GBA attendance stretches back to his childhood, when he tagged along with his father to meetings. “I’ve learned so much from this organization. There’s no place like GBA for friends in the industry to who want share with each other.”
